Unity Dorset was established in 2013 by Grant and Colleen Waller as a learning disabilities supported living provider. Very early on in its establishment Unity Dorset started to receive more mental health referrals which initiated a transition from a learning disabilities support provider to a mental health support provider.
The service has also transitioned from only providing supported living to also providing community support to individuals living in their own homes.
With 2 transitions it has enabled us to form a clearer leadership and service approach lead by both managing directors Colleen and Grant Waller. We are a small service and employ a small team of support workers that is led by a daily management team that supports the delivery and quality of our service on an overall scale. We have always thought that less is more in respect to the size of our service as we can provide quality care over quantity of packages.
We have experience working with adults with varied mental health conditions such as; schizophrenia and psychosis, personality disorders, OCD and anxiety. We have played an integral part in recovery and maintenance of individual mental wellbeing and rehabilitation in the community.
