We have been approved as a ‘time to change’ employer and have signed the employers pledge. We work within their values to ensure we implement ideas, resources and tools that will help our support staff to talk about their own mental health if they feel they are struggling.
We have a well-being workplace champion. The role of the champion is to promote and encourage the well-being and mental health of our support workers. After all, they are working hard to support individuals with complex mental health needs and sometimes that can affect the most resilient of people. The champion works to organise events, promoting good mental health and encouraging an open culture that gives staff the confidence to talk about their own struggles.
We like to add some fun into the workplace and arrange events that can at times prove difficult as after all we are supporting individuals at all different times. We get involved in events such as the colour run and the Weymouth and Portland Pride Festival. We have also set up our own Unity Dorset running club that is open to all of our employees.
